THE SHAUGHNESSY

Solution:

Front Entry Design Revamp- Shaughnessy Condo, Vancouver.
A design collaboration with a fellow garden design student and graduate, Janna Henderson of jn landscapes. Strata approached the UBC Garden Design Certificate Program, with this project in hopes to have graduates submit their drawings and bid on the installation.  We were among 4 other applicants… and were awarded the design and installation of this project.

We played off the scale of grandness, the octagon balconies and the square wood in the existing aggregate concrete.  Mirrors were used to reflect light and movement while planting was kept very natural and simple.  A trio of cube pots on a concrete pedestal were added for dimension and height to an already tall, wide-open space.  A large basalt block bench with ceramic planters were also added so passersby could enjoy and sit near the garden.

Project Date:  2015
Project Cost: $20’000- $25’000
